Iranian, Turkish Provinces Ink MOU on Mutual Cooperation

TEHRAN Iran's East Azarbaijan Province and Turkish Trabzon in Ankara on Saturday inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on expansion of mutual cooperation in the areas of trade, economy and culture.

An Iranian delegation headed by Governor General of East Azarbaijan Province Yahya Mohammadzadeh signed the MOU at the end of a visit to Turkey.

Based on the agreement, the two sides reached agreement on establishment of permanent exhibitions in both Trabzon and Tabriz, exchange of trade and industrial information and experiences, bilateral cooperation in the field of forestry, and expansion of mutual sports, cultural and scientific cooperation.

According to the agreement, Turkish investors may make investments in Tabriz vehicle manufacturing company, which is to be established soon.

Investments in the two countries' free zones and cooperation in offering the other side's products in third countries are among other agreements reached between the two sides.

Mohammadzadeh arrived in Trabzon on Monday at the official invitation of Governor General of Turkey's Trabzon Province Adil Yazar. The visit to Turkey of the Iranian delegation that included some 30 Iranian tradesmen was aimed at expanding economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, head of Iran's consulate general in Trabzon said on Friday that 12 agreements have been inked by the officials of Turkish Trabzon Province and Iranian provinces of East Azarbaijan, Gilan and Zanjan over the past two years.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of East Azarbaijan's exclusive exhibition in Trabzon, he stressed that the agreements which were signed in the areas of trade, economy and culture played a key role in further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
