TEHRAN Head of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) here yesterday denied a report carried by the Cable News Network (CNN) on Iran's failing to make ready a metering station for the Iran-Turkey gas pipeline at the country's border.

Hamdollah Mohammad-Nejad called the CNN report incorrect adding that further investigations have confirmed the safety of the gas injection systems.

Turkish Energy Minister Zeki Cakan in a program told CNN that in case of readiness of the metering equipment Turkey was ready to import Iranian gas.

"Turkish authorities are waiting to receive a certificate of suitability regarding the metering station, which will be issued at the end of tests and examinations by Turkish and Iranian technical commissions," the minister said.

Following repeated delays and controversies between Tehran and Ankara, the governments of Iran and Turkey have reached an agreement on the date of the commencement of export of Iranian gas to Turkey, the report further added.

CNN report said the two sides agreed to start the export in the second half of September.
