Jazayeri Provides List of People He Claims Took Bribes

TEHRAN -- The first session of the trial of Shahram Jazayeri, the first person charged with serious financial corruption, took place yesterday.

He is accused of paying bribes, misusing his influence, using fabricated documents for his own benefit and a host of other charges.

Jazayeri has accused several people of receiving money from him.

Jazayeri said that Mr. Karbalee received 4 billion rials while he was the managing director of the Export Guarantee Fund.

Jazayeri said he paid 5.5 billion rials to Seyed Hadi Khamenei, whom he called his new friend. He also said that he paid 1.7 billion rials to Mr. Allahyari for his election campaign.

He added that he also gave a check for 1.5 billion rials to Ayatollah Mohammed Golpaygani on good intention to be spent on charity affairs.

Jazayeri claims he gave 30 million rials to Ayatollah Anvari and 8 TV sets and 8 mobile telephones to MP Shahi Arabloo and the members of the Majlis Economic Commission. Jazayeri also claims he gave 200 million rials to Mr. Sediq and 100 million rials to Ahmad Saberi. Ahmad Saberi is the brother of the Majlis deputy representing Tonkabon.
