Yazd Taxi Drivers and Police Learn English

TEHRAN - The director of the Yazd Touring and Tourism Organization, Seyed Reza Seyed Hosseini, said that some taxi drivers and police officers from the traffic department are learning English.
He added that Rls.27 million has been allocated for the first phase of the plan, in which 20 taxi drivers are learning English.
Hosseini said that if they learn English these people can guide and inform the tourists who travel to the city to visit its historical and cultural sites.
He added that 20 police officers from the traffic department and several shopkeepers, who have much contact with foreign tourists in the bazaars, will soon start to study English.
Hosseini said that the English lessons are being sponsored by the Yazd Taxi Organization and the Yazd Touring and Tourism Organization.
Historical places such as mosques, Eskandar Prison, old houses, and water cellars are among the places in Yazd which are visited
