TEHRAN - The play "Sahouri" directed by Qotbeddin Sadeqi is on stage at the City Theater.

Sadeqi writes and directs plays based on ancient Iranian tales and stories.

The plays "Arash", "Simorgh", "Mad Tiger", and "Wise Man" are among the plays he has directed.

Sadeqi has been working in theater since 1997 and has directed several highly acclaimed plays.

This time, Sadeqi has chosen a short story from the Masnavi of Mowlavi Rumi.

"Sahouri" is a tragic love story.

During the night, a man plays a drum on the doorstep of a ruined house in an ancient town. The neighbors come out and complain and the drummer tells his story of love and loss to the only neighbor who is awake.

After shouting and beating the drum several times, the drummer becomes silent. Then, the woman he loves, dressed in white, enters the stage and sits at the door of the house. She also listens to the drummer's story.

Sadeqi said that he uses professional actors in order to better depict deep feelings such as anger or happiness.

"Sahouri" will be on stage until May 21.
