TEHRAN -- Head of the Presidential Office Ali Khatami here on Sunday called for expansion of relations between Tehran and Algiers.

He made the remark in a meeting with Algerian Ambassador to Tehran Abdulqadir Hijaz.

Khatami added that given the cultural, historical and political commonalties shared by Iran and Algeria, the two countries are required to further activate their Joint Economic Commission. He also called for exchange of visits by members of Iran-Algeria Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Hijaz underlined the need for broadening of cooperation between Tehran and Algiers and called for speedy implementation of the already reached accords, drafting protocols and further activation of the Joint Economic Commission.
