Former National Boxer Dies of Electric Shock

TEHRAN -- Ali Darvish, former member of the Iranian National Boxing Team, died Wednesday afternoon after receiving an electric shock in Shahid Shiroudi Sports Complex, IRNA reported.

Darvish was rushed to hospital after receiving the shock, but did not survive.

He died in Iranshahr Hospital.

Darvish was active in the Iranian National Boxing Team for five years, and participated in international competitions in the 75- and 81-kilogram categories.

The 28-year-old boxer was intending to marry in the coming days.

His body was forwarded to his hometown in Boroujerd on Wednesday to be buried there.
