TEHRAN -- Despite the gifted medical sciences students and the educational system's potent professors, the country's medical educational system, due to the lack of a state-of-the-art technology, cannot meet their educational needs.

Yet the government's support for medical societies has been limited.

Dr. Hassan Razmi, secretary to the 6th Conference of Iranian Endodontists' Society added, "One of the important factors in sustaining health for the future generation is to have an appropriate education system supported by update technology and investment. "But, sad to say, we observe that medical faculties lack modern research and educational facilities."

Speaking on the threshold of 6th International Conference of the Iranian Endodontists' Society, he said similar problems also face domestic dentistry. He added, "Specialized medical centers can remove many current problems. They can also hold various conferences on latest findings attended by dentists and students."

The main reason behind inactivity of these centers is lack of financial support of the government.

Dr. Khosro Sohrabi who is charge of public relations and international affairs said: "The conference aims at exchanging views on tooth root diseases and presenting the latest findings on treating the related diseases. "Over 80 percent of the people - most of them educated -- have rotten teeth, said Sohrabi adding that they even don't know the right way of brushing and unfortunately do not refer to the dentists."

Pointing to the conference as an international gathering, he noted: "Five renowned specialists of the world have also attended the conference to exchange views in the discussions on the latest findings. "The conference secretariat has received 130 articles out of which 80 have been selected and 75 lecturers set forth their subjects during the conference."
