SHIRAZ -- Two people lost their lives and three others were seriously wounded when a track and a car collided on a road connecting the cities of Kazeroun and Bushehr in this southern Iranian Province on Sunday.

Police said the car which suddenly swerved to the left caused the tragic incident.

In another accident one people lost his life when two motorcycles collided in a square in Kazeroun, said IRNA.

Kazeroun is placed 160 km west of Shiraz, the capital of Fars Province.

Iran has one of the highest rates of accidents in the world, on the average, some 15,000 people are killed and 87,000 injured in traffic-related accidents in the country annually.

Run-down vehicles, violation of traffic regulations, insufficient emergency assistance, lack of communication facilities to swiftly relay information on traffic-related accidents are the main causes of the high death toll from road accidents in the country, traffic experts say.
