Nomadic Handicrafts Put on Display at Naqsh-e Jahan Exhibit
Head of the exhibition Ali Kazemi said Tuesday that the "Naqsh-e Jahan" handicraft show is the sixth such an event held to introduce the manual skills of the nomads.
Kazemi said that several articles such as hand-woven carpets, felt hats, woolen slippers, embroidered tablecloths and bedcovers, local clothes, and bags are being exhibited and sold at the exhibition.
He further said that if special places are allocated to exhibit the works of the nomads, particularly in downtown areas of main cities, the nomads will be encouraged to continue the production of handcrafted articles, as a source of financial support.
Naqsh-e Jahan exhibit, which is to continue until September 22, showcases works of nomads from Khorasan, Golestan, Semnan, Gilan and Zanjan provinces.
