Berlin -- The 54th Frankfurt Book Fair, which begins today, will feature three roundtable discussions on Iranian literature, IRNA reported here.

The first panel discussion, due to take place on October 10, is entitled 'Modern Iranian Literature' and will be chaired by Iranian publisher Shahla Lahiji and Katayoun Amirpour.

The other two roundtable discussions are 'Publishing in Islamic Contexts - Non-Fiction' and 'Books for the Faithful Only?'.

Fair participants from several Islamic countries, such as Egypt, Palestine, Morocco, Kuwait, Senegal, and Syria, are scheduled to take part in the last two panel discussions.

Some 27 representatives of Iranian publishing firms will attend the Frankfurt Book Fair, which will also hold a special seminar for a group of Iranian publishers.

The workshop on the book fair's opening day has the aim of helping Iran's new publishing firms gain access to Western book markets. The seminar will focus specifically on books for children and young adults, which are an important sector of the Iranian market.

International experts from the book business will draw on their wealth of experience to share tips and ideas with their Iranian counterparts.

Some 6,700 exhibitors from more than 100 countries will showcase 400,000 titles during the six-day event.

Over 10,000 journalists from 80 countries are covering the book exhibition, which is the world's largest trade fair for books, multimedia and communications.

The theme of this year's book fair is "Bridges for a World Divided".
