TEHRAN -- In an interview with **Mainichi** newspaper, Iranian film director, Majid Majidi said that the United States is still incognizant of reasons behind the September 11 attacks in 2001.

During the interview that took place on Monday, November 25, in Tokyo, he emphasized that the reasons behind the attacks could only be found within the American soil. The government of the U.S. is unable to understand and accept the fact and pathetically continues threatening other countries.

He added, "Islam is against arrogance, but the event, with the help of Western media, has created a false image for it throughout the world. The proper way of understanding Islam is through understanding simple characteristics of ordinary Muslims. Watching Iranian films can help to understand the true image of Islam and Muslims. "Special characteristics of Iranian films are in the humanistic approaches they pursue in order to picture the true identities. Iranian films picture what have long been forgotten in other countries, hence the reason behind their popularity."
