Karrubi Calls For Unity, Warding Off Dispersion
"Constitution is our charter and we should avoid factionalism," said Karrubi in an address to a group of worshipers here at the late Imam Khomeini's mausoleum on Thursday, which marked the last night of Qadr (Grandeur).
The holy Qoran is believed to have been revealed to Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) on one of the three nights known as 'Qadr' (the 19th, 21st and 23rd nights of the auspicious month of Ramazan, which fall this year on November 24, 26 and 28).
Karrubi invited the statesmen, elite, press and scholars to unity at the ongoing sensitive juncture, IRNA reported.
He also called for high public turnout in the International Day of Qods rallies on Friday, November 29, that is the last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan in the world of Islam.
He said Europe, Asia and Africa are today calling for an independent Palestine and a government in the Palestinian land thanks to Iran's Islamic Revolution and the late Imam Khomeini's initiative.
A total of 24 years ago, founder of the Islamic Republic and father of the Islamic Revolution the late Imam Khomeini on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan issued a message in which he called the day as the International Day of Qods.
People from various walks of life, including students, state and military officials, civil servants, shop-keepers and so on, take part in the rally annually to condemn Israel's atrocities and the U.S. support for the Zionist regime.
Karrubi said on Thursday that the United States supports the massacre of the defenseless Palestinians by the Zionist regime, but condemns their legitimate resistance to the occupation force as terrorism.
Addressing a conference on "the Holy Qods" on the eve of the International Day of Qods (November 29), Karrubi said that the United States is the major supporter of the Zionist regime, which has embarked on international harassment in the wake of the suspicious terrorist attacks on September 11.
The United States describes its unconditional support for the Zionist regime as "campaign against terrorism", justifying massacre of Palestinians by the Zionist regime, he said.
Karrubi said that the Palestinians see their resistance to the Zionist occupation as their legitimate right and they resort to resistance operations as deterrent to Israeli further atrocities.
He regretted that the international community has failed to understand under what circumstances the Palestinians are living.
Karrubi also expressed grief that certain states are going to believe what the Israelis claim without taking into account how the Zionist war machine is dealing with the defenseless people of Palestine.
He welcomed the initiative of the United Nations to designate November 29 as "the day for solidarity with the people of Palestine" and its coincidence with the International Day of Qods -- the last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan.
He called on the freedom-loving people across the world to urge their governments to help establish the independent state of Palestine in the third millennium.
