TEHRAN (IRNA) --Iran's Secretary General of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Hasan Rowhani said Tuesday that Moscow has promised to complete the Bushehr Nuclear power plant ahead of schedule.

The power plant was slated to be operational next spring, but recently the Russian officials had announced that it has been delayed for a year. Speaking to reporters, following his official trip to Austria and Russia, he said Russian President Vladimir Putin "has promised to pursue the issue of the delay in completing the power plant." Rowhani said that Russian officials had stressed that after relevant reviews, "a new date will be set for Bushehr's power plant completion and will also try to shorten its time frame."

He said Russians do not have any problem with starting negotiations to build the second nuclear power plant in Iran.

Meanwhile, Putin said in Moscow Monday that Iran has the right to engage in uranium enrichment.

During his meeting with Rowhani, the Russian president said he believes Iran 'as a full-fledged member of the international community has complete right to develop its nuclear program for peaceful purposes'. Therefore, Putin said, he sees 'no obstacles to cooperation with Iran in the nuclear area'.
