Iranian discus thrower Mirzaei bags gold at Paralympics

BEIJING -- Iranian discus thrower Mohammad-Reza Mirzaei bagged the gold medal on Tuesday at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games.

The 43 year-old athlete claimed the championship with a throw of 40.84 meters in class F 57 at the “Bird’s Nest” National Stadium.
Egyptian Ramadan Elattar came second with 48.80 meters in class F 58.
Rostislav Pohlmann from Czech Republic took the bronze, throwing 39.85 meters in class 57.
Mirzaei has brought Iran's gold medal tally to five. Powerlifter Hamzeh Mohammadi, discus thrower Javad Hardani, sitting volleyball Team, and heavyweight lifter Kazem Rajabi, have already won the golds at the Beijing Paralympics
