Tabriz Petrochemical wins title in 2011 Jelajah Malaysia

Tabriz Petrochemical cycling team claimed the title of the 2011 Jelajah Malaysia on Sunday.
The Iranian outfit won the overall individual general classification as well as taking the best ranked team crown this year.Tabriz Petrochemical sealed the six-stage championship title with a time of 69 hours, 31 minutes and 5 seconds.
Giant Kenda Cycling Team came second and Team Eddy Merckx finished at third place.
Tabriz Petrochemical’s Mehdi Sohrabi conquered the Tour of Malaysia in style after taking Stage 6 from Batu Caves to Nilai.
The Iranian, who won Stage 1 (Kota Iskandar-Bandar Penawar), attacked the race well with his team-mates throughout the 175.1km final stage to wrest the yellow jersey from Le Tua’s Vidal Celis Zabala.
“I had always maintained from the start that the Jelajah Malaysia this year is up for grabs for anyone who wants it. The race was very tough and many riders had the chance of winning the yellow jersey. I had good support from my teammates to conquer back the yellow jersey. We worked together at the front all the way to the finish.” Sohrabi said
