We seek principlist coalition: Bahonar

TEHRAN – The Islamic Society of Engineers has only two red lines in forming coalitions for next parliamentary elections, the society’s secretary general said on Monday.

Mohammad Reza Bahonar said these two are: sedition and deviation.
The sedition is attributed to some reformists which protested the result of presidential election in 2009 and deviation refers to some figures close to former president Mahmound Ahmadinejad.

He went on to say that his group has held negotiations with figures close to Ahmadinejad to make a coalition.

As concerns a coalition among principlists “we prefer that Jame’atain (Association of Combatant Clerics and Combatant Clergy Association) be the center and host,” he said.

Asked about his position on a new party that is reportedly going to be launched by incumbent Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Bahonar said that he is not a member of the founding group of that party.

This party covers a large number of groups and has a big number of representatives in the Majlis and can be a powerful bloc in the upcoming elections, he stated.
