TEHRAN – Celebrated Iranian composer and conductor Shahrdad Rohani has composed music for the 87th birthday of Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The pieces are scheduled to be recorded in Vienna on October 20, he told the Persian service of ISNA on Saturday.

“I have been commissioned to compose musical pieces for the birthday of the king. The compositions have been completed and I will lead the Australian Chamber Orchestra to record the pieces at Konzerthaus,” he said.

The compositions will be released on a CD in December, he added.

Rohani was commissioned in 1998 by the government of Thailand and the committee of the 13th Asian Games to compose and conduct music for the opening ceremonies. The composition became the most popular song of the Asian Games.
