TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani told a cabinet meeting on Wednesday that Aban 13 (November 4) is a sign of resistance against excessive demands and foreign plots.

Aban 13, falling on November 4, marks the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and is a national day in the Islamic Revolution.

The president also said such national days like Aban 13 should be used as opportunities to strengthen the pillars of the Islamic Revolution and national unity.

He also said such occasions should not be misused by certain political groups, noting an abuse of such historic days will hurt national unity.

The president also said the term “infiltration” by foreigners should not be used as tool to level charges against rivals.

“The people have good understood the meaning of infiltration, global arrogance, history, and the behavior of America toward the country and the nation and are aware of national interest and the future of the country.”

The president added, “We should really and seriously fight against any ‘infiltration’ by foreigners but some should not ‘play with the word infiltration’.”

The president also told a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution on Tuesday that Aban 13 is a milestone in protecting the country’s independence. “Today, the nation’s message is that they will protect the system and the revolution’s achievements through resistance, unity, national awareness and the Leader’s guidelines.”
