Iran and Lebanon to boost cinematic cooperation

TEHRAN – Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance have met with his Lebanese counterpart in Beirut where they agreed to expand bilateral cinematic cooperation.

Mohammad Hosseini met with Lebanon Culture Minister Gaby Layyoun on Wednesday where he said that Iran is ready to hold Lebanon Cultural Week, the Persian service of Fars News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Based on the agreement, Iran’s cultural week will also be held in Beirut in spring, Hosseini said.

“Iran made the film ‘33 Days’ in Lebanon. It is a film on the Israeli 33-Day War of 2006 against Lebanon. The movie is due to go on screen in the Arabic language for Lebanese viewers,” he said.

He also added that two more Iranian films are currently being shot in Lebanon.

Hosseini also mentioned that based on the agreement both partiess agreed to exchange students of arts and cinema, and to boost cinematic collaboration.”

Layyoun also expressed his satisfation over the agreement and promised to help increase cultural cooperation with Iran.

Hosseini is on a four-day visit to Beirut attending the Iranian embassy’s congress of Islam and Christianity.

The minister also held talks with Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Monday.
Accompanied by a Hezbollah delegation, he also visited the memorial site of Imad Mughniyeh who was martyred February 12, 2008 in a car bombing in the Syrian capital Damascus.
