TEHRAN — Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has issued a firm rejection of any American military adventurism against Iran, advocating instead for structured mechanisms to enable “serious negotiations” between Tehran and Washington.

Speaking in an interview with The National on Thursday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Fidan emphasized that policies of isolation and encirclement serve only to destabilize the region.

The Turkish top diplomat warned that a pervasive “feeling of siege” risks pushing the Islamic Republic toward the “worst possible scenarios.”

He noted that unilateral sanctions have inflicted significant damage on Iran’s economy and its “dynamic and sophisticated” population, creating structural blockages that fuel legitimate economic grievances.

Fidan argued that these hardships are often misinterpreted by Western observers. “In reality, this constitutes a grey area,” Fidan explained, pointing out that external adversaries exploit these internal challenges to manufacture unrest.

Fidan had confirmed on January 15 that Turkish intelligence had monitored systematic efforts by the Israeli Mossad to hijack domestic Iranian protests.
