Special plan approved for restoration of historical texture of Hamedan
TEHRAN-- A special plan for preservation and restoration of the historical-cultural texture of Hamedan has been approved.
According to IRIB, Head of Hamedan Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department Mohsen Masoom-Alizadeh said on Saturday that in order to implement Article 3 of the law on support for restoration and revival of historical and cultural textures, the plan was proposed and approved at the 19th session of the Supreme Council of Urban Planning and Architecture of Iran.
He added that the special plan for restoration of the historical texture of Hamedan was developed and approved with the aim of preserving one of the oldest and most valuable historical fabrics in the country and improving the quality of urban life.
Masoom-Alizadeh said: “In the content of this plan, maximum protection of the Hegmataneh–also known as Ecbatana– a UNESCO-registered site and compliance with all national and international protection regulations as the main axis, restoration of the natural landscape of the river and operationalization of the proposals of the study plan for the rivers of Hamedan city, verification of height regulations with an approach to comply with the protection regulations of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, protection of citizens' rights, compliance with passive defense requirements, organization of the surface water collection and disposal system, and anticipation of mechanisms to compensate for development restrictions have been emphasized and considered.”
He added: “The members of the Supreme Council of Urban Planning and Architecture of the country, while emphasizing adherence to the international obligations in protecting the Hegmataneh World Heritage Site, emphasize the necessity of restoring residence and strengthening urban life in the historical texture, which houses about 10.2 percent of the population of Hamedan.”
Masoom-Alizadeh said that implementation of projects that promote residential revitalization, the formation of a tourism chain based on the connection of historical, natural, and cultural values ??of the city and its surroundings, the complete coordination of the special plan with the higher-level documents, including the comprehensive and detailed plan of Hamedan city, and the completion of proposals in the radial road system leading to the historical core of the city to plan for traffic calming, prioritizing public transportation, and developing pedestrian networks in the urban area were given special attention.
He also mentioned providing service and medical uses at the neighborhood scale, stabilizing existing gardens and agricultural lands as public green spaces, observing the functional scale of uses, and preventing the establishment of urban-scale uses in historic neighborhoods as the other requirements of the plan.
