Ports Handle About 19m Tons of Goods

TEHRAN Ports and Shipping Organization announced here Saturday that Iranian ports handled over 19.106 million tons of goods, in the first quarter of the current Iranian year (started March 21).
The organization's public relations department reported that out of the sum, non-oil goods accounted for 9.878 million tons showing a 15.5 percent increase compared to the figure for the same period last year.
It added that transit of goods from the ports topped 563,975 tons, of which fabrics and cotton ranked the highest.
Also, non-oil exports through ports exceeded 2.742 million tons in the period, showing an increase of 28.02 percent compared to the figure for the same period last year, the report added.
Shahid Rajaei was the most active port, handling 22 percent of the total goods transited.
