OSLO World record holder Maurice Greene, on a roll in Europe, misses Friday's Golden Gala event at the famed Bislett Stadium in a dispute over appearance money.

Media Chief Klaus Faerevaag said on Thursday: "We made him an offer and he did not accept."

The American sprinter's absence is the second blow for the meeting. Two days ago, Jamaica's Merlene Ottey pulled out, dashing hopes she could make her first appearance this year after several months out with a back injury.

The way looks clearer than ever for triple Olympic champion Marion Jones who hopes to beat her own year-best of 10.84 set in Paris on July 6, Reuters reported.

"The stadium record here is 10.82 and that definitely is a goal for tomorrow," said Jones, warming up for next month's world championships in Edmonton.

In Greene's absence the 100 meters should fall to Trinidad's Ato Boldon who hopes the fast track, noted for 62 world records, can help him beat his personal best. "9.86 is my best and I'm eager to get rid of it," said Boldon.

Boldon has been wondering whether to compete in the 100 and 200 meters in Edmonton.
