TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Americans will soon realize that they should hand over Iraq's administration to the UN, Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi told the visiting Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Trubnikov here on Saturday.

Kharrazi deplored that unfortunately, the mood of unilateralism still governs Washington and the U.S. rulers take one-sided decisions instead of consulting with Iraq's neighbors.

He stressed the need for optimal use of mutual potential to promote mutual political and economic cooperation.

Trubnikov, for his part, stressed consultation to adopt coordinated state on important global and regional issues.

He said Russia and Iran share common stances on campaign against terrorism and drugs as well as extremism and have good cooperation on bilateral and international levels.

He added that his country is ready to continue cooperation with Iran in peaceful nuclear activities and insisted that the principal position would not be changed under foreign pressure.

He said Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part at the upcoming summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
