Occupiers trying to create Shia-Sunni divide in Iraq: Majlis speaker

TEHRAN – On Sunday, Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel condemned the recent bombings of the holy shrines of the tenth and eleventh Shia Imams, Imam Hadi (AS) and Imam Hassan Askari (AS).

In a speech in the Majlis, Haddad-Adel said that the recent crime actually fostered unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims, adding that such terrorist actions will not make Muslims stop loving their Imams.

He went on to say that such a horrible terrorist attack on a holy site was unprecedented not only in the Islamic world but also in the entire world, and Muslims’ reaction to such an outrage is understandable.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Haddad-Adel said, “It is not so hard to figure out the motivation of the perpetrators,” adding that it is common knowledge that the continual failures of the occupiers in Iraq have compelled them to focus all their energy on efforts to destabilize the country and to place this objective on the top of their agenda.

The other objectives of the occupiers of Iraq are to create division between Shia and Sunni Muslims and to divert attention from certain European periodicals’ recent insult of the Prophet Muhammad (S), he opined.

The Majlis speaker also promised Muslims that the two holy shrines would be repaired as soon as possible.
