TEHRAN -- Iranian documentary “Naft-Sefid” directed by Mahmud Rahmani will be screened at the 11th Milano Film Festival to be held from September 15-24 in Italy, the Persian service of Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported here on Sunday.

The film is also shown at the 49th International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film that will start on October 30 and run through November 5 in Germany.

The documentary tells the story of a small town named “Naft-Sefid” at the center of southern Iranian province of Khuzestan, whose economy completely depends on oil. The inhabitants lose their hopes and even their identities when oil in the field runs dry.

Rahmani’s acclaimed movie was previously shown at Alba International Film Festival in Italy.

His recent documentary “The Mona Lisa” is in postproduction stage and has been sponsored by Iran’s Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization (IIDO).

“The 25-minute film is about an Iraqi family living near Iran-Iraq border and the miseries they suffered during different wars in their country,” Rahmani said.

“The Mona Lisa” focuses on Iran-Iraq war and the U.S.-led military attack on Iraq, he added.

Rahmani plans to send the work to the 17th International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA) in Amsterdam that kicks off on November 18.
