Iran war movies on U.S. big screen
“Bashu, the Little Stranger” directed by Bahram Beizaii, “Kimia” by Ahmadreza Darvish, “The Legend of Love” by Farhad Mehranfar, “The Game of the Elders“ by Kambuzia Partovi, and “From Karkheh to Rhine” by Ebrahim Hatamikia will be shown during a program entitled “War in the Iranian Cinema” at the venue, Fereshteh Ta’erpur added.
She noted that such event has never been held in the U.S. before and the films’ features are behind the international success of some Iranian war movies.
However, the program is to focus on the Iranian war cinema and is sponsored by Farabi Cinematic Foundation, the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), and Sima Film Institute, she said.
Ta’erpur believes that the best way to present Iran’s cinema is to hold film weeks to address certain audiences and centers, including universities, museums, and libraries.
