Before leaving for Iran, secretary interior said 99 percent of human trafficking from Pakistan occurred via land route between the two countries.
Recently the government has announced a new policy for intending 'Zaireen' (pilgrims) from Pakistan, the source said.
Under the new policy, people would have to obtain a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Religious Affairs to travel to Iran and provide personal guarantees about their return.
The sources said that Pakistan and Iran would also discussed the situation arising after the indiscriminate Israeli bombings of Lebanon.
The government has also imposed a ban on travel to Lebanon from Pakistan.
