TEHRAN -- Seyyed Ali Mir-Hadi, the head of the clerics committee of National Confidence Party, announced the names of some candidates on the NCP list for the Assemby of Experts elections on Saturday.

Mohsen Musavi Tabrizi(former director of the House of Parties), Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani (Expediency Council chairman), Hassan Rowhani (member of the Expediency Council and former secretary of Supreme National Security Council), Ali Yunesi (former intelligence minister), and Ali Razini (former judicial official) are NCP’s candidates for the Tehran constituency, Mir-Hadi told the Mehr News Agency.

Mir-Hadi added that the NCP supports the provincial representatives of the Followers of Imam’s Line and the Supreme Leader in the elections.

Registration of candidates for the fourth Assembly of Experts elections, which is scheduled to be held on December 15, began on Thursday.

The assembly has the power to appoint and supervise the leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Six mujtahedeh women introduced to Jamea`tein

“Zeinab Society and nine other fundamentalist women groups have introduced six mujtahedeh women to Jamea`tein for the Assembly of Experts elections,” Maryam Behruzi, the secretary general of the Zeinab Society, said.

Jamea`tein is a combination of the Clerical Combatant Society (CCS) and the Society of Qom Seminary Teachers (SQST).

“Two of the six introduced mujtahedeh women may enter Jamea`tein’s list of candidates,” Behruzi told MNA. She underlined the presence of women in the Assembly of Experts and said, “We suggest qualified women to be put on Jamea`tein’s list.”

Qualified women can run for AE votes

MP Fatemeh Rahbar of the Islamic Coalition Party said, “Nomination of women in the elections, even in the Assembly of Experts polls, is not prohibited by the law.”

If a woman has the required qualifications, she can run for the Assembly of Experts elections, she told MNA.

She added the Assembly of Experts enjoys a special position and the candidates for the assembly should meet particular requirements, the most important of which is Ijtihad (creative intellectual effort guided by the Qoran and the Sunnah), and those who run up for the elections should make sure they have the qualifications.
