Haddad-Adel urges France to maintain positive view of Iran
“We should not allow minor problems to cast a pall on the vast panorama of relations,” Haddad-Adel stated in a meeting with the chairman of the French-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Group, Xavier de Roux. Haddad-Adel expressed hope that France would maintain the positive view of Iran that it has had since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, adding, “This positive view can prepare the ground for political, cultural, and economic cooperation between the two countries.”
“Iran is interested in strengthening ties between Tehran and Paris,” he said.
The United States’ hostility toward Iran is rooted in its lack of understanding of the realities of the Islamic Revolution, he added.
However, France’s decision to harbor members of the terrorist Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) and certain other groups that are opposed to the Islamic Republic of Iran will not improve the position of the country in the eyes of Iranians, the Iranian parliament speaker pointed out.
De Roux said that Tehran-Paris relations are deep-rooted and important, adding that France regards the MKO as a terrorist group and it is under the surveillance of the French police.
He also mentioned France’s interest in strengthening parliamentary and political relations with Iran.
“France recognizes Iran’s right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy,” the French MP added.
