Iranian director focuses on Putin’s rule
Commissioned by Iran’s Press channel affiliated to the state television, “Another Democracy” deals with social, cultural, and political structures of Russia after the collapse of communism.
The film will be broadcast in eight 25-minute parts by the English channel established recently to target the overseas audience.
The flick is based on interviews Karampur conducted in English with Russia’s high-ranking officials and intellectuals, including the State Duma MPs, culture minister, Russian Orthodox Church leader, Moscow State University Chancellor, and head of Russian Human Rights Organization.
“Some of the interviews were carried out through a Russian interpreter,” Karampur said.
To him, the democracy Putin has established is neither Western nor Eastern. “This is a democracy on the basis of the Russian culture and traditions.”
