TEHRAN -- The Iranian film “It’s Winter” dominated five Paris movie theaters only a few days before the arrival of winter!

The Parisian premiere was organized by Celluloid Dreams, one of two worldwide distributors of the film, producer Mohammad-Mehdi Dadgu told the Mehr News Agency on Wednesday.

The distributor has also signed contracts for screening the film in North America and as well as in the capitals of Germany and Switzerland, he added.

The story of the movie takes place in winter when Mokhtar loses his job. Since he knows there is no chance of earning money in his own country, he decides to look for work abroad and leaves behind his wife and family. Months pass and his family hears no word of him.

Directed by Rafi Pitts, “It’s Winter” was premiered in 12 London movie theaters last week by the Artificial Eye Film Company, the other international distributor of the film.

“Since the film is about immigration, a worldwide problem, Londoners have welcomed it and several positive reviews of the film have been published on Internet sites,” Dadgu noted.

The Iranian premiere of “Winter” was postponed until February 12, 2007 due to the fact that most theater owners are only interested in screening commercial films. The movie was originally scheduled to be screened in Iranian cinemas concurrently with its European premiere.
