Majlis has not yet decided to cut cooperation with IAEA: speaker
“Iran seeks to resolve the nuclear issue through negotiations in the framework of the nuclear Non-Proliferating Treaty,” Haddad-Adel told reporters in his weekly press conference.
If the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany issue more resolutions to step up political and illogical pressures against Iran, the Majlis will follow suit, he warned.
According to AFP, the UN Security Council on Tuesday considered new sanctions against Iran over its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment, including an arms embargo and a travel ban. “We have repeatedly declared that membership in the IAEA involves mutual cooperation, and if our membership in the international organizations would lead to the deprivation of our rights, we will certainly make different decisions.”
The West should realize that any pressure on Iran leads to a change in Iran’s strategy, he added.
Tehran prefers negotiation and is ready to take measures to allay the concerns about its uranium enrichment in the framework of the NPT and to accept any kind of supervision, he noted.
The United States has exacerbated the problems in the Middle East whenever it has resorted to force to settle the issues, the Majlis speaker said.
