BEIJING (AFP) -- Asian number one Lee Hyung-taik of South Korea led the way into the second round of the China Open Monday, as world number seven Fernando Gonzalez broke a miserable post-Wimbledon run.

Lee, seeded six here and enjoying his best season in the rankings at 43rd, was a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 winner over little-known Chilean Adrian Garcia, building on his solid run at the U.S. Open that took him to the fourth round.
He beat British hope Andy Murray in New York before world number four Nikolay Davydenko, who is the top seed in Beijing, shattered his dream.
Russia's Davydenko faces a round-the-world dash to get to China after losing a weekend semi-final at Flushing Meadow and his fitness will be tested by the time he steps onto court against American Zack Fleishman later in the week.
Chile's second seed Gonzalez made the most of another chance to turn around a poor run of four consecutive losses since Wimbledon with victory here.
He fought back after conceding the first set to Austrian Alexander Peya to win 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
In other first round matches, Germany's Bjorn Phau dug deep to come from behind to beat Italy's Davide Sanguinetti in three sets while American Kevin Kim dispatched China's Xu Xin-Yuan 6-3, 7-5.
But Bangkok-based Danai Udonchoke, Thailand's great hope in the absence of injured Paradorn Srichaphan, was in the dumps after crashing to Chile's Paul Capdeville 6-2, 6-2.
Spain's Tommy Robredo, Croatian Ivan Ljubicic, and Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis are also in the field but did not play Monday
