TEHRAN -- The Iranian comedy “A Few Kilos of Dates for a Funeral” has won the Best Film Award at the 6th Third Eye Film Festival which was held in Mumbai from November 1 to 8.

Directed by Saman Salur, the film is about two workers at a roadside service station who find themselves with next to no work because the main highway now takes a detour. One of them begins to behave strangely, occasionally disappearing and becoming obsessed with weather reports. The other falls in love with a girl he has never met, to whom he sends passionate love letters that are returned to the postman.
The film gained the Golden Leopard Special Jury Prize in the Filmmakers of the Present section of the 59th Locarno International Film Festival which was held in Switzerland last month.
“Twilight”, “Fireworks Wednesday”, “Bitter Dream”, “Eternal Children”, “Good Bye Life” (also known as “Good Bye Commander”) and “Slowly” (also known as “Gradually”) were other Iranian films competing at the Third Eye Film Festival
