TEHRAN (PIN) – Nuri (Borzuyeh) Petrochemical Complex exported 670 thousand tons of aromatic products in the first nine months of current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2007). According to the Nuri Petrochemical Complex Managing Director Hamidreza Rostami, the export earned the country 530 million dollars.

During the period, the complex had exported more than 400 thousand tons of naphtha, 70 thousand tons of xylene, 22 thousand tons of benzene, and five tons of orthoxylene, said the official.
Rostami added the aromatic products were shipped to Saudi Arabia and European and Southeast Asian states by 41 vessels.
“Nuri Petrochemical Complex is currently working at 60 percent of its nominal capacity and it will work at full scale in 2008,” said the managing director.
He predicted that the complex would produce aromatic products worth 800 million dollars by next March.
President Mahmud Ahmadinejad inaugurated Borzuyeh Petrochemical Complex, the world’s biggest aromatic plant, in Assaluyeh in southern Iran on July 2 and agreed to change its name to “Nuri” Petrochemical Complex.
The decision was made following the request of the family of Mohammad Nuri, former managing director of the complex, who died last year.
Nuri, one of the founders and designers of the complex, had worked in the plant for eight years.
The complex was renamed as a gesture of appreciation for all the efforts Nuri had made during the past years.
