Kuwait displays Iranian calligraphy at Masjid al Kabir

TEHRAN -- A collection of works by Iranian calligraphers are on display in an exhibit at the Masjid al Kabir in Kuwait.
Fifty artworks by calligraphers from Iran’s Center for the Encyclopedia of Anthropology, along with works from other Islamic countries, are being showcased until January 11.The display features the calligraphy of great masters such as Ahmad Najafi Zanjani, Karam-Ali Shirazi, Alireza Kadkhodaii, Omid Ganj-Ali, Hamidreza Akbari and Hossein Abbasi.
------Tehran’s Art Bureau to screen world renowned films
TEHRAN –- Celebrated films by veteran world directors will be screened at Tehran’s Art Bureau from January 1 until 5.
The movies “The Terminal” by Steven Spielberg, “The Interpreter” by Sydney Pollack, “Miller’s Crossing” by Joel Coen, Sean Penn’s “The Pledge”, “Léon” by Luc Besson, Steven Soderbergh’s “Kafka”, Billy Wilder’s ""Sunset Boulevard"", “The Horse Whisperer” by Robert Redford and George Roy Hill’s “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” will be screened in the afternoons.
Tehran’s Art Bureau is located at the Hafez/Somayyeh intersection.
------“Half Moon” ranks 32 in Spain’s best-selling DVD list
TEHRAN –- The world renowned film “Half Moon” by Iranian Kurdish filmmaker ranked 32 in the Spanish DVD best-selling films of 2007.
Golem Distribution company screened “Half Moon” in Spain’s cinemas and it became the second best-selling film in the country.
------Iranian docs submitted to Fajr festival
TEHRAN -- Thirty-seven feature length Iranian documentaries have been submitted to the 26th Fajr International Film Festival secretariat.
50 short docs previously selected at national festivals have also been submitted.
Mahmud Zendehnam, Bijan Mirbaqeri and Mehdi Homayunfar are the members of the jury of the gala’s Documentary and Short Film Section.
------“We Are Able Photo Festival” to depict Iran’s achievements
TEHRAN –- Selected works from the “We are Able Photo Festival” will be showcased at the Iranian Photographers’ Center from January 26.
The festival’s theme was the achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the last 28 years. Subjects included technological developments, Tehran’s subway, scientific discoveries, developments in the aerospace industry and the bright future envisaged for Iran’s children.
Members of the jury have selected 59 photos to be showcased at the venue which is located at the intersection of Hafez St. and Somayyeh St.
------Niavaran to host tar recitals
TEHRAN –- Tar virtuoso Payam Jahanmani will be giving performances on January 3 and 4 at the Niavaran Cultural Center.
He will be playing compositions from his upcoming album “Look” during the 80-minute recitals..
