TEHRAN (PIN) – Oil production in Bahregan region will soar to 80 to 100 thousand barrels per day when new platforms are installed.

The Iranian Offshore Oil Company’s (IOOC) Bahregan operations head said the 50 year old platform of Bahregan region was currently producing about 40 thousand barrels of impure crude oil a day.
Mohammadreza Khajeh-Jahromi added the figure would touch some 100 thousand barrels daily when new platforms were placed in the region covering Bahregansar and Hendijan.
The increase, said the official, would be in line with the development plan and renovation of platforms of Bahregansar and Hendijan oilfields.
According to him, Bahregansar field’s oil is of API 27-27.5 crude type that is classified in heavy crude oil category.
“When the new installations start work in the region, the amount of salt in the field’s oil will be in conformity with the standard level,” added Khajeh-Jahromi.
The IOOC official said 10 wells had been already drilled in Bahregansar oilfield and more wells would be drilled in the future.
Bahregansar oil platform would switch on next February, project manager said last September.
“Oil platforms are made in Khorramshahr yard and now are going through pre-commissioning process,” Yussef Zahed added.
“The 2,500 ton platform will be transferred to Bahregansar by the Abuzar Vessel,” he said.
Zahed predicted that Bahregansar oil platform would have a 60,000 bpd production capacity.
“The oil will be transmitted to processing installations through a 16 inch pipeline.”
The Iranian Offshore Oil Company would sign the contractor for Bahregansar oil refinery in the current Iranian year (to end on March 19, 2008), said IOOC managing director.
Mahmud Zirakchianzadeh said that the refinery, which would transform the heavy oil to light oil, would come on stream within the next three years.
The total capacity of the refinery would be 10 thousand barrels, he said, adding that the brimstone volume, included in the oil, would increase from 15 to 20 API to 34 API.
“After inauguration of the new onshore refinery in Bahregan region, the plant will refine 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day extracted from Hendijan and Bahregansar oilfields,” the official said.
