Women’s challenges for achieving lasting peace to be studied

TEHRAN -- A congress on challenges of Muslim women for achieving lasting peace and security is to be held in Tehran from August 26 to 27, 2008.

Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, Tehran City Councilor Masumeh Ebtekar, head of Institute for inter-religious Dialogue, Mohammad Reza Vaez Mahdavi, head of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) office in Iran Peter Stocker, and Secretary General of the Iranian Red Crescent Society Dr. Seyed Ahmad Mousavi are scheduled to deliver speeches to the congress.
Representatives from Iraq and Afghanistan, including advisor to Iraqi prime minister, Afghanistan’s Minister for Women’s Affairs, and head of Arab Women Media forum (AWMF) are to attend the meeting.
The two-day congress will be held at the Iranian Artist Forum’s Beethoven Hall.
