TEHRAN -- President Mahmud Ahmadinejad is to meet with Iranian filmmakers on Sunday.

President’s advisor in artistic affairs Javad Shamaqdari said that the meeting would give the filmmakers an excellent opportunity to initiate their suggestions and present solutions to remove the obstacles in the path of progress of Iran’s cinema.
“The active presence of filmmakers and cineastes in this meeting will undoubtedly help improve the present condition of Iran’s cinema,” he remarked.
He also added that the decision was made by the President and that something more than a typical meeting is expected from this session.
The invitation process was arranged by the House of Cinema and 40 filmmakers were introduced first, he said, adding, “We also decided to add several more filmmakers so as to have representatives from all genres. They include Dariush Mehrjuii, Fereidun Jeirani, Kianush Ayyari, Davud Mirbaqeri, Dariush Farhang and Ahmadreza Darvish.”
Shamaqdari further noted that the aims of organizing the meeting are to gather critics, reviews and problems of Iran’s cinema and to discuss them in a more professional and friendly atmosphere, in order to achieve better solutions.
He expressed hope that this meeting will be an auspicious beginning for the improvement of Iran’s cinema in every aspect.
