TEHRAN -- Shabaviz Publications will choose books for submission to the World’s Most Beautiful Book Competition in Germany.

Books from several countries will take part in the competition. Iran participated for the first time in 2007 in the event, the managing director of the publication Farideh Khalatbari told MNA.
The competition is organized by the Germany Book Art Foundation and is held in Leipzig annually in March.
As the representative of the Germany Book Art Foundation in Iran, Shabaviz Publications will choose Iranian books for the competition.
“Although Iran’s book illustrations are not yet comparable to other countries, participation in such competitions will encourage Iranians to improve the art of book illustration and designing,” she added.
Books published after January 2007 in the Persian language by Iranian authors that have outstanding graphics, illustrations and designs can participate in the competition.
The book details, including its title, publisher, illustrator, book designer, the date of publication, the book editor and price should submitted to Shabaviz before November 20.
The competition jury will focus on books as objects of utility. Legibility and factors such as size, weight, the color of the paper and its contrast to the script are all factors that are reviewed by the jury, which means that the criteria include not only design but also concepts and perfection of technical workmanship.
