TEHRAN - In a letter released on Wednesday, Interior Minister Sadeq Mahsouli has ordered an immediate probe into attacks on Tehran University students’ dormitory.

In the letter Sadeq Mahsouli asked the Tehran governor general to form an expert panel to indentify the culprits and find out how they had entered the students’ dormitory.
On Monday morning a group of unidentified persons had illegally entered students’ dormitory and beat a number of students, damaged their property and detained some of them.
Mahsouli ordered an assessment of the material damage on the dormitory, pursuing the students’ complaints, and finding a way to solace the students.
The letter followed a demand by Majlis speaker Ali Larijani who asked the interior minister on Tuesday to launch an investigation into such irresponsible acts.
Most of the students detained on Monday have already been released due to attempts by some Majlis lawmakers.
Also Larijani on Monday set up a parliamentary committee to investigate the skirmishes between police and protestors over the presidential election results, including the events at the Tehran University dormitory.
Larijani has ordered the committee to prepare an “evenhanded” report on the events and the police’s conduct during their crowd control actions
