PARIS (AFP) — Electrabel, the Belgian unit of French power group GDF Suez said it will invest 1.2 billion euros (1.68 billion dollars) in a biomass and coal energy plant in Rotterdam.

The Dutch 800 megawatt plant will produce 25 percent less carbon dioxide, believed responsible for recent global warming, than a conventional unit, Electrabel said.
The new plant should be completed by 2013, it added.
