TEHRAN -- MP Effat Shariati stated on Tuesday that gender is not important in naming ministers. She said it is a nominee’s qualification which matters most.

However, she admired Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s decision to nominate women ministers, saying the decision is in accordance with the system’s causes.
The president has taken a valuable action by choosing women as ministers, the member of the Majlis women’s faction told reporters in Mashhad.
She added the occupation of ministerial posts by women is very important as she said there are competent, capable and educated women who can serve in top executive jobs.
