TEHRAN -- Tehran Prosecutor General Abbas Jafari-Dolatabadi has denied the reports that Mohammad Amin Valian has been executed.

“He (Valian) was one of the defendants of the (post-election) trials, and the ruling has been issued on his case, and he has the right to appeal until March 13,” he told reporters in Tehran on Sunday.
He also rejected the unofficial news reports claiming that Valian’s death sentence had been carried out or had been upheld by a higher court.
According to the ISNA news agency, some counter-revolutionary media outlets reported on Saturday that Valian had been executed.
Mohammad Amin Valian, 20, who was arrested on January 12, is a member of the Central Council of the Islamic Association of Damghan Science University.
Asked about the legality of the special court set up at Evin prison, he pointed to the detention of thousands after the June 2009 presidential election and said this court was established out of necessity.
“Nowhere in the law books is it set out where to set up courts. Our aim was to facilitate the court procedures and expedite the hearing process of the cases,” he explained.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that the indictments have been prepared for 250 people who were arrested on Ashura day (December 27, 2009), adding that the arrestees whose charges are not supported by sufficient evidence will be released.
