TEHRAN – Tehran City Council deputy chairman Hassan Bayadi has said it is premature to expect Tehrani citizens to move to other cities as the ground is not prepared for the purpose.
“The necessary ground for migration from Tehran is not prepared and it needs a long-term management,” Bayadi told the Mehr News Agency on Saturday. One of the necessary grounds is employment, which is a more acute problem in other cities, he noted.
He also said the cultural, economic and political backgrounds must be provided before the plan is implemented.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has earlier said that his administration plans to reduce the population of Tehran by offering various incentives.
Ahmadinejad said the administration will grant loan, land and subsidy for those Tehranis who move to other cities.
He also noted the administration has drafted a comprehensive plan for the transfer of the population from Tehran province to other provinces
