This column features excerpts from the editorials, commentaries, and news articles of the leading Iranian newspapers.
EBTEKAR in its editorial writes in industrialized countries the real estates and industrial transactions consist of 10 percent cash payment and the remaining is held in loans. In other words the economy in advanced states is running through loans. However, in our country it is the opposite. 90 percent is based on cash and only 10 percent is carried out by loans and credits. The writer asks what is behind sudden increase in value of bourse shares, gold and foreign currency in our country? The writer argues that this abundant use of capital in transactions in Iran contributes to the current levels of inflation in the country, which makes the poor become poorer. As such, the current inflation inducing economy is far behind in reaching social justice and a short-lived, hurried and incomprehensive policy is not a proper response to the crisis-ridden economy. The editorialist has emphasized different sectors of the economy are not like separate islands as all sectors are interrelated. A combination of policies and programs pushes forward the overall economy of the country. If signs of economic growth are seen, then we can be hopeful about the future.SIASAT-E ROOZ in a report says the rate of foreign currency exchange suddenly awakened from a long sleep and increased highly in an unprecedented manner. Apart from sudden increase within a few days, some economists express optimism that such developments depict a better economic prospect for the country.
KAYHAN in its editorial writes that unity is one of the outstanding values of social identity of a nation, without which no progress will be achieved. The question is how can we preserve the social unity while there is no unity among authorities and elites? When we talk about unity the question that comes to mind is what is public and elite unity? It is evident “comprehensive unity” covers both sides. These days we witness that the issue of unity is a topic of discussions among different groups and even the opposition. There is no doubt that unity among the people is more important than unity between elites and authorities.
