TEHRAN – Iranian lawmakers held a rally on Sunday to show their support for the Egyptian people in their uprising which led to the ouster of Hosni Mubarak who despotically ruled Egypt for three decades.

After 18 days of protests and demonstrations by millions of Egyptians who called for the departure of Mubarak and the establishment of a democratic government, on Friday Mubarak decided to step aside and transfer power to the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
The MPs took to the streets near the Majlis building in Tehran after Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani made a speech in support of the revolution in Egypt and against the U.S. political movements against the regional nations.
The parliamentarians shouted slogans like “God is Greatest,” “Muslims Be United,” “Down with the U.S.,” and “Down with Israel.”
Regional nations want real democracy
Majlis speaker in his speech said the United States should know that the regional nations want real democracy and not dependent governments which are democratic in name only.
Larijani also warned that the U.S. has a plan to highjack the Egyptian nation’s great victory.
He went on to say that he is sure that the Egypt’s youth are vigilant and ready to safeguard their victory.
Elsewhere in remarks, Larijani described the MPs’ rally as a “symbolic move” in support of the Egyptian nation.
Mubarak should stand trial
The Majlis Human Rights Committee also issued a statement calling on the UN to set up a fact-finding committee to probe into criminal acts of Hosni Mubarak and his allies.
The statement also says that Mubarak should be brought to a fair international trial
