Iran sympathizes with disaster-hit Japan

TEHRAN – The Iranian foreign minister has sent a message of sympathy to his Japanese counterpart Takeaki Matsumoto, expressing deep sorrow at the deadly 8.9-magnitude earthquake which hit Japan on Friday.

The powerful quake triggered a devastating tsunami along Japan’s eastern coast Friday, killing hundreds of people and injuring thousands.
Ali Akbar Salehi expressed hope that the great Japanese nation that is known for its hard work and perseverance will manage to overcome problems caused by this natural disaster.
Salehi also offered the Iranian nation’s condolences to the families of the victims and said Iran is ready to send disaster relief to Japan.
On Friday, Iran’s Red Crescent Society had announced Tehran’s readiness to deliver humanitarian aid to the victims of the massive earthquake.
